Of all the composers, Johann Sebastian Bach is the one who has been the most often covered, transcribed and arranged in different ways, and this already by himself. In this respect, the concerto for oboe and reconstructed violin and the concerto for two violins are very interesting examples. Bach also inspired Mendelssohn enormously, notably in this double concerto, a work of his youth.
