MuCH Green Label
Our Path Towards Sustainability
Since 2023, with the creation of the internal “Green Label” working group initiated by several team members, the Music Chapel has been firmly committed to a long-term sustainability journey. Just as we strive for musical excellence every day, we also aim to inhabit our world with respect for planetary boundaries and with care for the future of our environment.
As a cultural institution with an international reach, an ecosystem involving frequent travel and a resource-intensive event-driven economy, we are fully aware that this transition will be gradual and will require profound changes in habits and practices. Our ambition is to move forward step by step, focusing on three core pillars:
1. Reducing our carbon footprint
We have begun by mapping the full carbon balance of the Music Chapel and its activities, enabling us to define a clear roadmap to reduce our environmental impact. One of the first concrete steps concerned the Garden Party, one of our major annual events, where we improved waste management, mobility practices, and sustainable food options.
2. Protecting and restoring biodiversity
Our first initiative was the planting of a small forest garden in the meadow bordering the landscaped park: 350 plants, trees, and shrubs that foster soil life, insects, and small fauna. This action is now followed by a more structural approach: with the support of environmental experts, we are currently assessing the ecological health of the park and the woodland surrounding the Music Chapel. This analysis will help us define and implement responsible and sustainable management practices.
3. Reconnecting with the Living World
Through activities that combine nature and music, we invite our audiences to explore and experience the richness of the Living World and the natural heritage surrounding the Music Chapel.
With the support of the National Lottery
