Sol Gabetta

14:00 Music Chapel, Haas-Teichen Studio

Born in Argentina, Sol Gabetta first studied at the Queen Sophia School of Music in Madrid, then with I. Monighetti in Basel and D. Geringas in Berlin. Now living in Switzerland, she has taught at the Basel Academy of Music since 2005 and directs the Solsberg Festival. An advocate of lesser-known works, she has performed Weinberg’s Cello Concerto with the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, conducted by M. Franck. She premiered M. van der Aa’s Double Concerto with P. Kopatchinskaja and the Amsterdam Concertgebouw Orchestra. Sol Gabetta also founded the Capella Gabetta, a baroque music ensemble directed by her brother. She plays a cello by Matteo Goffriller, made in Venice in 1730.
