Open Masterclass - Cello

Sol Gabetta werd geboren in Argentinië en studeerde eerst aan de Queen Sophia School of Music in Madrid, daarna bij I. Monighetti in Bazel en D. Geringas in Berlijn. Ze woont nu in Zwitserland, doceert sinds 2005 aan de Basel Academy of Music en leidt het Solsberg Festival. Als voorstander van minder bekende werken heeft ze Weinbergs Celloconcert uitgevoerd met het Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France onder leiding van M. Franck. Ze bracht het Dubbelconcert van M. van der Aa in première met P. Kopatchinskaja en het Concertgebouworkest. Sol Gabetta richtte ook de Capella Gabetta op, een barokensemble onder leiding van haar broer. Ze bespeelt een cello van Matteo Goffriller, gemaakt in Venetië in 1730.
