Elisabeth
A Queen's Wanderings

Music Chapel Festival 2026 @ Flagey

On 4 and 5 December, the Music Chapel Festival 2026 will celebrate the 150th anniversary of Queen Elisabeth’s birth at Flagey. True to her musical legacy, the Music Chapel will bring together its Masters and Artists in residence for two days of concerts, ranging from chamber music to major symphonic works, alongside activities for audiences of all ages.

On 4 December, the Orchestre Philharmonique Royal de Liège, conducted by Alena Hron, will take centre stage for the festival’s first major orchestral event. Joined by violinists Angela Chan and Rio Arai, as well as our cello Master in residence Gary Hoffman, the orchestra will perform works by Saint-Saëns, Sibelius, Fauré and Jongen.

On 5 December, the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Bart Van Reyn, will bring the festival to a close with Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9, joined by the Octopus Choirs and the European Union Choir. Pianist Kojiro Okada, Queen Elisabeth Associate Artist, will also perform Saint-Saëns’ Piano Concerto No. 5.

Four chamber music concerts will bring together Masters and Artists in residence, while Nostos – La mémoire et l’exil will weave a dialogue between early music and traditional Mediterranean songs, featuring the Equinox choirs and the ensemble InAlto.
