Music Chapel Gala Concert

Digital Edition

11.03.2021 – 20:15

On Thursday, March 11, the Music Chapel invites you to its online Gala concert!

Just one year ago, on 11 March 2020, the Music Chapel, in agreement with Bozar and the Belgian National Orchestra, took the difficult decision to postpone its annual Gala Concert, scheduled two days later. Soon afterwards, a global pandemic put us in lockdown, and an unprecedented year followed for us all.
After a difficult year for the cultural sector during which creativity and flexibility were constantly put to the test, the Music Chapel is pleased to announce today that the 2021 edition of the Gala Concert is going to take place in a digital version.
The concert will be broadcast from the Haas-Teichen Studio (Music Chapel), with a series of surprises to open the evening, including a tribute to Piazzolla, born a century ago, on 11 March 1921. The aim is to maintain a moment for sharing, even if it is a “virtual” one, with all the supporters and friends of the Music Chapel, in Belgium and beyond, around this institution which is always overflowing with ambition for future generations. Throughout these challenging months, the Music Chapel was very active online so as to allow the young artists in residence to work on stimulating musical projects while waiting for the “live” concerts to start up again.

Broadcast free of charge on 11 March 2021 at 8:15 pm (then available for replay on the Music Chapel’s YouTube channel), the Gala Concert brings together on its digital stage viola player and master in residence Miguel da Silva, associated artist and professor Lorenzo Gatto, and a very talented team of young artists in residence. On the program? Two magnificent works from Mendelssohn’s chamber music repertoire: the Octet and Piano sextet.

The complete program is available here!
