Shuhei Aoshima, piano
After studying at the Music High School affiliated with the Tokyo University of the Arts, Shuhei Aoshima went on to enroll at the same university, where he completed his degree. He then continued his training at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, earning diplomas in piano and accompaniment with the unanimous congratulations of the jury.
He was awarded Second Prize, the Prize for Best Performance of the compulsory work, and a Special Prize at the 5th Takamatsu International Piano Competition. He also received Sixth Prize and the Zen-On Prize at the 2nd Shigeru Kawai International Piano Competition. In addition, he won First Prize as well as the President of the Kanagawa Shimbun Prize at the 32nd Kanagawa Music Competition (high school division).
He has since performed in numerous festivals and concerts in Japan and abroad, including the Kawai Konzerte series, the Klaviersommer festival in Germany, the Kawai Chopin Festival 2019, and La Folle Journée 2019 in Japan. As a soloist, he has collaborated with several orchestras, including the Tokyo City Philharmonic Orchestra, the Kanagawa Philharmonic Orchestra, the Seto Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Geidai Philharmonia Orchestra.
He studied with Nobuko Nakamura, Yasutaka Gotoh, Kimihiko Kitajima, Yukio Yokoyama, Susumu Aoyagi, and Haruko Ueda.
He has been Artist in residence at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel since September 2025, in the classes of Frank Braley and Avedis Kouyoumdjian.
