Lisa Willems, soprano

Lisa Willems is a Belgian soprano. She is a young artist at La Monnaie in Brussels, where recent engagements include Ortlinde/Gerhilde cover (Die Walküre/Wagner), Conference Presenter (Cassandra/Foccroulle), Zaubermädchen (Parsifal/Wagner), Modistin (Der Rosenkavalier/Strauss), recitals with songs by Libby Larsen and chamber music by Bernard Foccroulle, Una Novizia/1 sorella conversa (Il Trittico/Puccini). She will reprise her role of Conference presenter (Cassandra/Foccroulle) in June 2025 at the Staatsoper Berlin.
Lisa was part of the ensemble for Anthony Braxton’s new piece Thunder Music at the Darmstadt Festival 2023. She has appeared as Donna Anna/Zerlina in Don Juan (Don Giovanni/Mozart) by Deschonecompanie and Leonore in Fidelio (Beethoven) by WALPURGIS (Operavision). Lisa made her debut as Kalypso in Odysseus’ Women + Anaïs Nin at the Louis Andriessen Festival in Muziekgebouw aan’t IJ (NL) and Operadagen Rotterdam (NL). At the Dorset Opera Festival (UK), Lisa has appeared as Donna Elvira cover (Don Giovanni/Mozart), Sacerdotessa (Aïda/Verdi), Alice (Le Comte Ory/Rossini), Una Novizia (Suor Angelica/Puccini).
As an avid song performer, Lisa has had the pleasure of performing many recitals, in big and small venues. Notably an 8-hour performance of Schumanns Frauenliebe und Leben at the art venue deSingel in Antwerp, Belgium in 2022.
Since September 2021, Lisa is an Artist in residence at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel, where she is under the tutelage of Sophie Koch, Stephane Degout and José van Dam.
