Timothy Veryser
tenor

Born in 1997, Belgian tenor Timothy Veryser was introduced to music by his grandfather, René Van Roye, who taught him piano, accordion and music theory. At eight, he began attending the Stedelijke Academie voor Muziek en Woord Clemens non Papa in Diksmuide. Singing before a large audience at fourteen sparked his passion for classical voice, and he began lessons with Erika Pauwels at eighteen.
After studying global business management, he began his vocal training in 2019 at the Royal Conservatory of Ghent, part of KASK & Conservatorium, with Christianne Stotijn. He continued with Hendrickje Van Kerckhove and graduated with highest distinction in 2024. Selected for La Monnaie’s MM Academy in Brussels, he became an MM Soloist in 2024.
His opera roles include Gernando in Haydn’s L’isola disabitata and Orphée in Gluck’s Orphée et Eurydice. In Zutphen, he sang Malo at the premiere of a reconstruction of Beethoven’s Vestas Feuer. He made his Austrian debut as Schmidt in Massenet’s Werther at the Bregenzer Festspiele, and sang Masaniello and Alfonso in an adaptation of Auber’s La Muette de Portici, a co-production by La Monnaie and Walpurgis.
Since making his Opera Ballet Vlaanderen debut in 2023 as the Father in Kurt Weill’s Die sieben Todsünden, he has returned as the Third Jew in Richard Strauss’s Salome and the Fourth Squire in Wagner’s Parsifal. He joins the company’s Young Ensemble for several productions in the 2026–27 season. Parsifal also brought him to the Wiener Festwochen in June 2026.
His concert repertoire includes Bach’s St Mark Passion, in which he made his debut as the Evangelist and a tenor soloist in 2023. He has also sung in the Requiems of Michael Haydn and Mozart, Bach’s Magnificat and St Matthew Passion, Rossini’s Petite messe solennelle and Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, performing the latter to mark its bicentenary. At Bozar, he sang Une Bête in Ravel’s L’Enfant et les sortilèges under Alain Altinoglu. He also took part in Altinoglu’s masterclass with the La Monnaie Symphony Orchestra.
Timothy Veryser has sung under the baton of Claire Levacher, Alejo Pérez, Gaetano Lo Coco and Nathalie Stutzmann, and attended masterclasses with Brigitte Fassbaender, Josef Loibl, Marcel Reijans, Martin Winkler and Nicky Spence. He won First Prize and the Audience Prize at the 14th Concours Lyrique International Bell’Arte in 2023, followed by First Prize in his age category at the 10th International Music Competition Triomphe de l’Art in Brussels in 2025.
In the 2026–27 season, Timothy Veryser joins the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel as an Artist in residence, under the direction of Sophie Koch and Stéphane Degout.
