Sofia Anisimova, mezzo-soprano

Sofia Anisimova is a Ukrainian mezzo-soprano.A laureate of the recruitment competition organized by the Opéra National de Paris, she will be joining the Académie in September 2023.

Following the outbreak of war in Ukraine, she was invited to continue her studies at the Conservatoire de Paris (CNSMD), in the class of Yann Toussaint.
She began singing at the age of 15 at the Hadiach College of Culture and Arts with Natalya Horbachyk, before joining Anatoliy Groza’s class at the Kharkiv I.P. Koltyarevsky National Conservatory in 2015. In 2022 she graduated with a master’s in voice from Oleksandra Kuzmina’s class.

She has appeared in several productions of the Kharkiv Opera Studio, including Le Nozze di Figaro (as Cherubino), Dido and Aeneas (as Dido), Eugene Onegin (as Philipievna and Olga) and Mermaids Easter by Ukrainian composer Leontovych, in which she played the Siren. In 2021 she won the Special Prize awarded by jury president Zoryana Kushpler at the Wassyl Slipak Young Vocalists Competition. That same year, she won First Prize at the International Competition for Young Opera Vocalists of the Fondation Michael Stirchartz.

Since her arrival in France, she has performed in a number of concerts (Pianos Kawai, Live Music Now, etc.) and has participated in several masterclasses with such luminaries from the world of music as Michel Plasson, Sophie Koch, Maciej Pikulski, Zoryana Kushpler and Jean-Yves Ossonce.

Outside her musical career, Sofia is also socially and politically active. She was a member of Kharkiv Youth Council for several years and has been deputy head of the Department of Cultural Development since 2019.
