Oleg Volkov, bass-baritone

Having received an award from the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, the young bass-baritone Oleg Volkov was a member of the Opéra National du Rhin in Strasbourg from 2021 to 2023. In that theatre, he interpreted the roles of Fauteuil and Arbre in Maurice Ravel’s L’Enfant et les sortilèges, the Hoopoe in Howard Moody’s Lunar Lake, Priest and Armored Man in Mozart’s The Magic Flute, Maximilian and Sam in Bernstein’s Candide and Trouble in Tahiti, respectively, and was an understudy for the leading role and the roles of Reindeer and Clock in Hans Abrahamsen’s The Snow Queen.

The Daniel Ferro Vocal Program, the Exzellenz Labor Oper course, and the International Academy for French Music Michel Plasson strongly influenced and helped to develop Oleg’s musical interests.

He will soon be appearing at the Music Chapel Festival with the Brussels Philharmonic Orchestra and the Flemish Radio Choir in Flagey, Brussels, and at the Opéra de Monte-Carlo with Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo, the Orchestre Philharmonique and the Chœurs de l’Opéra de Monte-Carlo in a new production of L’Enfant et les sortilèges, as part of the celebrations for Rainier III’s centenary.

Oleg Volkov also holds a master’s degree in linguistics, translation and interpreting.

Since September 2023, Oleg has been Artist in residence at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel.
