Bernard de Launoit

Our President & CEO

1964 – 2023

It is with profound sadness that the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel has learned of the death of Bernard de Launoit, its CEO and Executive President.

Bernard passed away on March 23, surrounded by his family and loved ones, after an illness that he fought against with all his might over the past six months. An exemplary fight.
The Music Chapel has lost a charismatic and inspiring leader with a keen intelligence who was constantly looking for new projects and who worked to the end for our institution.
We will remember him as someone who lived his life with passion. A consuming passion for art in all its forms and with an enduring love of classical music. At the helm of the Music Chapel for almost twenty years, he made it shine throughout the world, always in pursuit of excellence.
The Board of Directors, the Executive Committee, the Masters in Residence, and the entire team of the Music Chapel are deeply affected by this loss.
Our thoughts are with Bernard’s wife, children, family, and friends.
We will miss his silhouette, his confident walk and his smile.

The Executive Committee will ensure the continuity of the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel.
