Organ Workshop
The Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel is expanding its range of disciplines with an organ session by Bernard Foccroulle to be given in April 2021. It is both a great honor and pleasure to welcome an artist such as Bernard Foccroulle, the renowned organist and composer with more than 30 years of experience as an opera and festival director, to lead a first week-long workshop for the most talented young artists from across Europe. This workshop will also be an opportunity for the public to discover these young artists and their master in the course of a public masterclass.

Dates: from Wednesday 14 until Monday 19 April 2021
The aim of this workshop is to offer talented young organists high-level masterclasses, while simultaneously highlighting the remarkable organs to be found in Belgium.
This workshop also seeks to give the artists keys to enter the professional world and to raise their awareness about issues of cultural mediation.
The masterclasses will make use of period and modern instruments, in Flanders, Brussels and Wallonia.
Workshop focus:
- The organ works of the Spanish composer Francisco Correa de Arauxo (1584-1654)
- The chorale fantasia in seventeenth-century Northern Germany: Praetorius, Schildt, Scheidemann, Tunder, Weckmann, Buxtehude, Bruhns, Lübeck
- J.S. Bach: Fantasia und Fuge in g, BWV 542, Toccata und Fuge in d BWV 538, Passacaglia und Fuge BWV 582
The classes will be given in French and English and will make use of period and modern organs adapted to the repertoire.
The young organists from abroad will arrive on late Tuesday 13 April.
A meeting with several organ experts will explore the following theme: ‘Musician and organist in the twenty-first century: what career prospects?’
SELECTION PROCEDURE

A movement from a trio sonata from J.S. Bach
A work at your choice
3.Documents to provide:
- Links to your audio-visual recording (must be uploaded via an internet link such as youtube)
- CV/biography
- Short motivation letter
4.Application fee (preselection):
50€ for DVD Pre-Selection (all candidates)

5.Workshop participation fee:
The participation fee is 250€ per person, to which must be added the accommodation (possibility to stay at the Musical Chapel on request).
