Jeewon Kim, violin

Jeewon Kim (1990 Seoul, Korea) began playing violin at the age of six with Prof. Eun-Shik Kim, and In 2001, she studied with Prof. Galina Turchaininova in Central Secondary Special Music School in the P.I Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory. In 2002. she continued her studies under Prof. Irina Bochkova. From 2008 to 2015, she studied with Prof. Mihaela Martin at Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln. From 2016 to 2018 ,she studied with Boris Kuschnir in University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz .

Jeewon Kim won several prizes 1st Prize in „Hankookilbo“ Competition and laureate of the Korean National Competitions in 1999 & 2000. In 2002 she participated at “all Russian competition for young violinists“ in Ryanzan and successfulty won the 1st prize. In 2003, she won the 5th Prize in the 9th International Wieniawsky competition for young violinists in Lublin, Poland.

In 2006, she performed as a semifinalist and she was the youngest participant at the 2006 International Violin Competition “Premio Paganini”. She played as a soloist with the Moscow State Symphony Orchestra, Lipitsk state Symphony Orchestra, Smolensk state Orchestra and Izhevsk State Symphony Orchestra. Jeewon played at several music festivals.

In 2011, she received “Ion Voicu” Foundation Special Prize in Enescu international violin competition and In 2014, the 4th Prize in China International violin competition 2014 Qingdao.

Jee Won Kim perform on a 1760 Gian Battista Gabrielli violin, on generous loan to her from the ‘Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben’ foundation.

In September 2018, she became an artist in residence at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel, under the guidance of Augustin Dumay.
