Hawijch Elders

Hawijch Elders (1998) is a Dutch violinist.

Most recently, Hawijch received the 1st prize at the Leonid Kogan International Competition for Young Violinists 2021 and the 2nd prize at the 2021 Odessa International Violin Competition. She is a laureate of Dutch Classical Talent 2021/2022. Previously, she received prizes at the 37th ‘Premio Rodolfo Lipizer’ International Violin Competition 2018 and the Dutch National Violin Competition ‘Oskar Back’ 2018. The Kersjes Foundation awarded her the ‘Kersjes Vioolbeurs 2019’ at the Royal Concertgebouw Amsterdam.

Hawijch Elders studied with Ilya Grubert at the Conservatory of Amsterdam, Master’s degree, and previously with Benzion Shamir. Hawijch participated in masterclasses with Ivry Gitlis, Shlomo Mintz, Pierre Amoyal.

She performed as soloist with, amongst others, The Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra, Real Filharmonía de Galicia, Orquestra Clássica da Madeira, Residentie Orchestra The Hague. She has worked in chamber music concerts with Valeriy Sokolov, Quirine Viersen and Maria Milstein.

Hawijch plays a violin by Gennaro Gagliano and a bow by Jean Pierre Marie Persoit, on loan from the Dutch Musical Instruments Foundation. The violin is part of the ‘collection Willem G. Vogelaar’.

Since September 2022, she is Artist in Residence at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel in Waterloo, where she studies with Prof. Augustin Dumay.
