Jonathan Fournel

20:15 Music Chapel, Studio Haas Teichen

Coming back here to La Chapelle Musicale to play this programme dedicated to one of my favourite composers really does feel like coming home, so full of memories is this place.
La Chapelle has been a pillar in my progression as a musician and as a person. Studying with Louis Lortie and Avo Kouyoumjian for 5 years was a huge enrichment that both inspired and encouraged me to go further. Chamber music has always been something essential to me, and having the chance to participate in various musical projects organised by La Chapelle has been a real inspiration. Concerts and recordings have also allowed me to meet and play with extraordinary musicians such as Augustin Dumay to whom I owe so much, Miguel Da Silva, Gary Hofmann… and now Avo Kouyoumjian and Riana Anthony. Some of these encounters have been very important and I feel privileged to have benefited from their advice.

I am very happy to be able to offer you this programme on Brahms in the company of people who are dear to me: Riana, Avo and Lorenzo. I would like to thank very warmly all those who have supported me without forgetting the team of La Chapelle who have always been incredible and ready to do everything to help and allow this place to exist. I send them all my encouragement for the future but I am sure that their commitment will always be up to the task. Circumstances did not allow some of the people close to us to be here tonight, and a very strong thought goes to Bernard de Launoit, because without him, none of this would have been possible.
