The Postgraduate Clarinet Program “Zoé Crampon"
new collaboration
Starting in the 2026-2027 season, the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel is breaking new ground through an international partnership between four leading institutions: KASK & Conservatorium (HOGENT-Howest), Buffet Crampon, International Music Promotion (IMP), and the Music Chapel. Together, they are creating a unique advanced training program for the most promising clarinetists worldwide.
The Postgraduate Clarinet Program Zoé Crampon is built on a seamless integration of each partner’s expertise: the Conservatorium provides the academic framework and research supervision; Buffet Crampon facilitates the artistic and pedagogical contributions of international masters; and IMP handles pedagogical coordination and the organization of external concerts.
A Synergy for Artists in residence
This new collaboration aligns perfectly with the Music Chapel’s innovation strategy, enriching its artistic and pedagogical offerings. The integration of the Zoé Crampon Postgraduate Clarinet Program serves as a natural extension of the Music Chapel’s current activities, providing:
- For Artists in residence: A significant enrichment of the chamber music repertoire. The presence of world-class clarinetists offers our strings and piano residents the opportunity to explore a broader range of chamber works under the guidance of both the Music Chapel’s Masters in residence and distinguished Guest Masters.
- For the Public: A chance to (re)discover a specific and often overlooked clarinet repertoire during concerts in Waterloo and at partner venues.
- For all Program Participants: Access to concerts and (open) masterclasses led by leading figures from the international clarinet world, drawn from the Buffet Crampon network.

Where History Meets Innovation
The project also features an unprecedented digital dimension: using Artificial Intelligence, Buffet Crampon has reconstructed the portrait of Zoé Crampon, a historical figure from the renowned instrument-making dynasty. An exclusive video, in which Zoé Crampon herself addresses the audience, will be integrated into the program—illustrating the unbreakable bond between 19th-century heritage and the technologies of the future.
