Trio Nebelmeer

Inspired by the great Romantic works reserved for their training, Arthur Decaris, Florian Pons, and Loann Fourmental named their trio after Caspar David Friedrich and his painting The Wanderer Above the Sea of Fog (Der Wanderer über dem Nebelmeer), an iconic representation of German Romanticism.

The musical careers of the three musicians began with the Trio Wanderer, as well as with Claire Désert and Louis Rodde. They were fortunate to receive lessons during their studies and at academies from the Quatuor Ébène and the Quatuor Modigliani, as well as from Johannes Meissl, Olivier Charlier, Emmanuel Strosser, and Lise Berthaud, among others.

The trio quickly drew attention for their warm and expressive sound and have been featured at renowned festivals such as La Roque d’Anthéron, La Folle Journée de Nantes, Les Folles Journées in the Pays de la Loire region, and La Folle Journée in Warsaw.

With the support of the theater and conservatory of Caen, their debut album, dedicated to Chausson and Saint-Saëns, was released in the spring of 2023 by Mirare and warmly received by French and German critics.

In 2024, the Trio made its first appearance at the Henry Le Bœuf Hall at Bozar in Brussels as part of the Bozar Next Generation program, as well as at the Festival de l’Abbaye Royale de l’Épau.

The members won first prize at the Il Premio Trio di Trieste international chamber music competition in 2024, and they will perform in Italy in 2025 and 2026.

The Trio Nebelmeer is a laureate of the Fondation Banque Populaire.

Arthur Decaris plays a Pressenda violin, on loan from Mrs. Cougoul, through the TALENTS & VIOLON’CELLES donation fund.

Florian Pons plays an 18th-century cello, attributed to Ambroise de Comble, a pupil of Stradivarius.

Since September 2022, Trio Nebelmeer has been an artist-in-residence at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel, under the direction of Corina Belcea, Miguel da Silva, and Jean-Claude Vanden Eynden.

The Nebelmeer Trio benefits from a scholarship granted from an anonymous donor.
