MuCH Waterloo Festival 2025
From 18 to 22 June
8th Edition of the MuCH Waterloo Festival
For the eighth year in a row, our festival invites you to a week filled with emotions, encounters, and discoveries — true to the spirit of the Music Chapel, and resolutely focused on the future.
More than twenty concerts, indoors and open-air, make up the programme. At the heart of it all are themes such as transmission, connection to nature, artistic excellence, and local roots.
In line with our mission, we bring together Artists in residence with internationally renowned musicians and artists who have left a lasting mark on the history of our institution.
The festival opens with a very special concert titled Musical Crossroads, featuring a host of loyal alumni: Trio Busch, Julie Gebhart, Yu Shao, Jonathan Fournel, Sergei Redkin, and Trio Zadig. Each of them found their artistic voice at the Music Chapel and now return to share their talent with us. A moving moment, rich in memories.
The second day of the festival is dedicated entirely to nature and music.
New this year is The Green Way – a musical walk through the park surrounding the Music Chapel, flowing seamlessly into an evening concert in a fresh and innovative format.
On the programme: a performance by Lorenzo Gatto, his ensemble Karavan, Artists in residence, and a special guest: Belgium’s national poet, Lisette Lombé.
The evening opens with a world premiere by Nick DiBerardino — a joint commission by the Music Chapel and the prestigious Curtis Institute of Music, performed by our Associate Artist, cellist Zachary Mowitz.
This is followed by an evocative dialogue between music and the spoken word, exploring the relationship between humans and nature — from Vivaldi and Beethoven to contemporary works. The influence of the natural world on composers through the ages takes centre stage.
The theme of transmission resonates particularly during a concert in the beautiful Musica Mundi Hall with the Nebelmeer Trio, and again at the Music Chapel, where Trio Wanderer performs in dialogue with our young Artists in residence.
As every year, the festival closes with the traditional Garden Party: a warm, festive and musical afternoon where generations come together in the lush surroundings of the Music Chapel.
Concerts, workshops and activities for all ages are on offer — always with a focus on sustainability. This is a festival that grows with respect for its environment, without ever compromising on hospitality or artistic quality.
And finally, a heartfelt thank you to all our partners, without whom this edition would not be possible. Special thanks go to Belfius, Proximus, the Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles, the National Lottery and its players, the Province of Walloon Brabant, and of course the Municipality of Waterloo.
