Arthur Hinnewinkel, piano

Born in the United States in 2000, Arthur Hinnewinkel began playing the piano at the age of seven in Singapore. In France, he entered the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional de Rueil-Malmaison with Chantal Riou, then the Conservatoire Régional de Paris with Anne-Lise Gastaldi, during which time he won his first competition prizes (Concours Flame, Claude Kahn and Île-de-France). At the age of fifteen, he was admitted to the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris (CNSMDP), where he refined his skills in the piano class of Hortense Cartier-Bresson and Fernando Rossano, and in chamber music with Claire Désert, François Salque, Maria Belooussova and Itamar Golan.
He has performed as a soloist and chamber musician at major French festivals (Festival de La Roque d’Anthéron, Festival de Pâques – Août Musical in Deauville, Festival de Wissembourg, Festival Chopin in Paris, Festival Musique à La Prée, Festival Classicaval in Val d’Isère, and Festival de Pont-Croix), as well as at the Musée Guimet, the Musée de la Vie romantique, the Teatro di Marcello in Rome and the Fondation Singer-Polignac in Paris. He has also appeared on the radio for Générations France Musique and Les Concerts du soir (20 heures) on Radio France.
In 2023, he was a finalist at the Clara Haskil Competition, receiving the Modern Times Prize, and in February 2024 he was awarded the Thierry Scherz and André Hoffman Prizes at the Sommets Musicaux de Gstaad, enabling him to record an album dedicated to Robert Schumann’s works for piano and orchestra for the Claves label. In 2025, he received the Prize of the Governments of the Belgian Communities (Fourth Prize) at the Queen Elisabeth Competition, one of the world’s leading international competitions.
Arthur is an Artist in residence at the Fondation Singer-Polignac.
Since September 2024, Arthur has been an Artist in residence at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel, in the piano class of Frank Braley and Avedis Kouyoumdjian.
