Héctor Ruiz Vilches, tenor

Héctor Ruiz Vilches, born in València in 2001, completed his studies at the Conservatori Liceu in Barcelona in 2024 in the class of Joan Martín-Royo, where he was awarded the Extraordinary Prize in Chamber Music. In 2025, he completes the “Victoria de los Ángeles” Lied Master’s Programme at ESMUC. 

During the 2023–24 season, Ruiz performs as a soloist in Mozart’s Requiem at the Palau de la Música Catalana under the direction of Xavier Puig, in Handel’s Messiah with the OJCV in several towns across Catalonia, and takes part in the Nuits Musicales d’Armagnac festival in France. He is also a member of the Bachcelona Akademie Choir and the Vocal Academy of Capella de Ministrers. 

During the 2024–25 season, he gives a Catalan art song recital at the Life Victoria Festival as part of the Life New Artists series, alongside pianist Joan Espuny. That same year, he receives the Salvat Bach Scholarship, which enables him to appear as a soloist in prestigious venues such as L’Auditori de Barcelona, the FeMÀS Festival in Seville, the Palau de la Música Catalana, and the Gregorian Festival of Sastamala (Finland). 

During the 2025–26 season, Héctor Ruiz appears as a soloist in several national and international projects. His engagements include opera recitals in Santiago de Chile, a tour dedicated to Spanish art song with Joan Espuny organized by the Jeunesses Musicales of Catalonia, a performance of Schubert’s Winterreise in the orchestration by Zender at L’Auditori de Barcelona, as well as Baroque programmes with the Bachcelona Consort Orchestra featuring cantatas BWV 13 and BWV 161. He also takes part in the musical Gaudí by A. Guinovart at the Palau de la Música Catalana. 

Alongside his solo career, he collaborates regularly with several leading Catalan ensembles, including the Gran Teatre del Liceu Choir, the Chamber Choir of the Palau de la Música Catalana, and the Capella Reial de Catalunya conducted by Jordi Savall. 

Since the 2025–26 season, he has been an Artist in residence at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel, where he continues his training with Sophie Koch and Stéphane Degout.
