Esh Quartet
The Esh Quartet is a recently formed string quartet whose four members – Marie Duquesnoy, Tobias Staub, Alice Sinacori, and Killian White – met during the 2023–2024 season at the Concertgebouw Orchestra Academy. The ensemble was born naturally from their close friendship, their shared passion for chamber music, and their common experience of performing at the highest level. Now based in the Netherlands, the quartet brings together musicians active in leading orchestras such as the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra and the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra.
The quartet is driven by a deep desire to explore the classical repertoire with freshness, depth, and artistic openness. Although still in the early stages of its development, the Esh Quartet builds on the strong individual backgrounds of its members, including performances throughout Europe as soloists and chamber musicians, international awards, and appearances in prestigious halls and festivals such as Carnegie Hall, the Verbier Festival, the Pierre Boulez Saal, and the Philharmonie de Paris.
Their time at the Concertgebouw Orchestra Academy enabled them to deepen their musical dialogue through masterclasses with renowned artists such as Klaus Mäkelä, as well as close collaborations with musicians of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra. Their playing is shaped not only by technical excellence and extensive training—acquired at conservatories in Paris, Berlin, Amsterdam, Salzburg, Frankfurt, Lucerne, and Brussels—but also by the strength of their personal bond.
In September 2025, the quartet will begin a new chapter as Artists in residence at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel in Belgium, where they will study under the guidance of Corina Belcea and Miguel da Silva. This milestone will mark an important step in their artistic development and offer them the opportunity to further deepen their exploration of the string quartet repertoire under the mentorship of two distinguished chamber musicians.
The Esh Quartet shares a strong sense of curiosity and a constant desire to grow together through music. It aspires to explore a wide range of repertoire—from the great works of the string quartet tradition to lesser-known pieces—and to foster new artistic encounters. Its work is grounded in deep friendship and a shared commitment to developing a collective musical voice.
