Marion Vergez-Pascal, mezzo-soprano

A native of the Béarn region, Marion Vergez-Pascal sang in the children’s choir at the Conservatoire de Pau before joining the Maîtrise de Radio-France, performing in productions conducted by Sofi Jeannin, Kurt Masur and Daniele Gatti. After studying classics, she entered the Département Supérieur pour Jeunes Chanteurs of the CRR, obtaining a DEM diploma with great distinction. In 2018 she entered the Conservatoire de Paris (CNSMD) in Frédéric Gindraux’s class. She graduated in 2021 and pursued a master’s degree, taking lessons from Anne Le Bozec and Susan Manoff. For years, she has been mentored by Roberto Benzi and Annick Massis.

She was selected as a Young Talent for the Bel Canto School of the IVC Competition in 2019, became a laureate of the Académie des Frivolités Parisiennes in 2020, and joined the Palais Royal’s Young Talents programme at the Petit Palais in 2021, where she contributed to a series of short films devoted to the French operatic repertoire. She was also a laureate of the Académie Ravel in Saint-Jean-de-Luz, where she performs regularly. In 2023 she received support from Société Générale’s ‘The Future is You’ Foundation.

Passionate about mélodie and Lied, she collaborates with several pianists, including Cécile Sagnier for a recital of La Fontaine’s fables at Château-Thierry and Simon Adda-Reyss in a programme devoted to Victor Hugo at the Théâtre des Sablons.

In opera, she has appeared as Annio in Franck Krawczyk’s adaptation of Mozart’s La clemenza di Tito at La Seine Musicale; as Clorinde in Yvain’s Là-haut with the Compagnie des Frivolités Parisiennes at Théâtre de l’Athénée; and as Constanza in Haydn’s L’isola disabitata at Théâtre Traversière. She also performed the Sorceress in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas, co-produced by the Conservatoire de Paris and the Philharmonie de Paris, and sang the mezzo-soprano solo in Mozart’s Requiem with the Orchestre de Pau Pays de Béarn.

Committed to accessibility, she takes part in outreach concerts with the Paris Chamber Orchestra and appears in productions by Compagnie Plein Jour at Théâtre des Bouffes du Nord, including Tchek and Help!.

In November 2022 she won First Prize at the International Music Competition Triomphe de l’Art in Brussels. She began a collaboration with the Opéra-Comique through the Académie Favart in 2023 and was named ADAMI Opera Revelation for the 2023–24 season. In 2024 she performed with Anne Le Bozec at the Capitole de Toulouse and recorded her first solo album of Spanish melodies for the Mirare label. In 2025 she performs the role of Aurore in Félix Fourdrain’s Contes de Perrault with the Frivolités Parisiennes orchestra.

Marion Vergez-Pascal has been an artist in residence at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel since September 2023, in the class of Sophie Koch and Stéphane Degout.
