Kojiro Okada was born in Bordeaux in 1999 and began studying the piano at the age of seven with Anne-Lise Gastaldi. A precocious talent, he performed from a young age in some of Paris’s most prestigious venues. In 2010, he performed at the Salle Pleyel to mark the bicentenary of Chopin’s birth. This was followed by appearances at the Théâtre du Châtelet in 2013 during the charity concert « Tous en Cœur », at the Philharmonie de Paris in 2022 and, in 2024, his debut at the Concertgebouw as well as at La Seine Musicale. He has also performed regularly at the Salle Cortot, as well as at the Salle de Musique in La Chaux-de-Fonds.
His international engagements include two major chamber music tours in North America. In 2022, he performed alongside Miguel da Silva at the Salle Bourgie in Montréal and at The Phillips Collection in Washington, D.C. In March 2025, he returned to the United States for a new chamber music tour, performing in several cities with prestigious international partners. More recently, he performed at the Seoul Arts Center alongside Augustin Dumay, performing the complete Brahms sonatas.
He regularly takes part in renowned festivals such as the Festival Chopin de Nohant, the Festival de l’Orangerie de Sceaux, the Festival International de Piano de La Roque d’Anthéron, the Folles Journées de Nantes and the Sommets Musicaux de Gstaad. He is also a regular guest at Flagey.
A passionate chamber musician, he was, until 2025, the pianist of the Trio Pantoum, with which he released a first recording on the La Dolce Volta label.
He continues today an intense activity as a soloist and chamber musician, notably forming a duo with his brother, the violinist Shuichi Okada.
Throughout his career, Kojiro has collaborated with some of the most renowned artists of our time, including Nicholas Angelich, Jean-Efflam Bavouzet, Frank Braley, Miguel da Silva, Dag Jensen, Gary Hoffman, Jian Wang, Bertrand Chamayou and Augustin Dumay.
Kojiro studied at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris (CNSMD) in the classes of Hortense Cartier-Bresson and Florent Boffard.
A laureate of the Fondation Banque Populaire and the Fondation Safran, he has received numerous international distinctions, including first prize at the Concours International Gabriel Fauré and at the Concours International of the Società Umanitaria in Milan (duo), third prize at the Concours Ricard Viñes in Spain and at the Japan Piano Open Competition in 2023, as well as a high distinction at the Concours International « Classic Piano » in Dubai.
The already remarkable path of Kojiro Okada promises a brilliant future on the international music scene.
During his time as Artist in residence at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel, under the direction of Frank Braley and Avedis Kouyoumdjian, Kojiro Okada benefited from a scholarship offered by Mr. and Mrs. Christian Van Thillo.
