The Music Chapel, younger than ever, is celebrating its 75th birthday this year with a series of concerts with orchestra. The Gala concert opening the festivities this past January was sold out. The 75th birthday events continue with a José van Dam & YOU! concert at the Brussels Palais des Beaux-Arts on 11 March. It will feature the company of singers in residence at the Music Chapel together with their music teacher José van Dam in works by Bizet, Debussy, Gounod, Kalman, Massenet, Mozart, Offenbach, Puccini, Rossini, Tchaikovsky and Verdi; a foretaste for the audience of avid enthusiasts, two months before the Queen Elisabeth Competition. They will be accompanied by the National Orchestra of Belgium under the direction of Patrick Fournillier. The artistic direction has been entrusted to a young French director, Julien Fišera, an active member of enoa, the European Network of Opera Academies. The young lighting designer Arnaud Lhoute will light the stage of the Palais des Beaux-Arts. This event represents a significant challenge for the Music Chapel, as in collaboration with some Belgian provinces and via the social networks and various associations it is also inviting an audience of young people between 18 and 35 years of age. During the intermission the audience will be offered a photo booth, a Facebook contest, a meeting with the artists and an onstage reception after the concert, during which the artists will be more accessible than ever.  The concert will be streamed the same evening on the sites of Belgacom, Musiq 3, AIRTV, ONB, BOZAR, and the Music Chapel in particular (www.musicchapel.org).
