On behalf of the entire team of the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel, Bernard de Launoit is delighted to announce the arrival of a new Master in Residence, Miguel da Silva, an internationally renowned viola and chamber-music player. Miguel da Silva is, among others, a founding member of the renowned Ysaÿe Quartet, of which he has been a member for the past 30 years. The arrival of this sixth Master in Residence and the inauguration of a viola section will give life to a dream the Music Chapel has had for many years: that of witnessing the emergence within its walls of chamber-music projects involving the different sections. This new cross-disciplinary approach will be made possible not only by the arrival of young viola players at the Music Chapel, but also by the artistic accompaniment of these interdisciplinary chamber-music projects by Miguel da Silva. This project will reinforce the chamber-music section with groups already formed at the entrance audition and for which the Artemis Quartet is responsible. The new section will make it possible to develop one-off music-chamber programs with varied ensembles, whether composed of resident artists or sometimes external guests. With the upcoming opening of its new facilities and this new artistic offer, the Music Chapel is strengthening its position as the leading musical laboratory of tomorrow.
