De concerti voor meerdere klavieren zijn merendeels recylingwerken. Bach beschikte
immers over erg weinig tijd om in die tijd te componeren. Daarom nam hij liever vroegere werken over voor zijn leerling- klavecinisten. Enkel het Concerto voor
twee klavieren in C-groot, BWV 1061, zou een origineel kunnen zijn. Het erg beroemde
Concerto voor vier klavecimbels betreft een transcriptie van Vivaldi’s Concerto voor vier violen. Zijn sprankelende energie en weelderige polyfonie maken er een heus meesterwerk van, uniek in zijn genre.
