“De Cellosonate van Chopin (1848) en de Cellosonate van Carter (1948) verschillen 100 jaar van elkaar, maar beide delen het idee van transformatie. Een melodie die aan het begin wordt geïntroduceerd, komt in beide stukken terug, keert terug naar het bekende en biedt een ander perspectief. Op dezelfde manier biedt Jungs werk een andere interpretatie van het vertrouwde. Ik ben bijzonder verheugd dit stuk te kunnen presenteren omdat het mijn eerste project is waarbij ik een componist opdracht heb gegeven en intensief heb samengewerkt om Koreaanse volksverhalen met klassieke muziek te verkennen. “Muziek begint waar woorden tekortschieten”, zei de dichter Heinrich Heine, en ik ben oprecht dankbaar dat ik deze universele taal mag spreken en culturele bruggen mag bouwen zonder grenzen.”
