This 2014 gala concert will launch the 75th anniversary festivities of the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel! Eugène Ysaye, the great composer and violinist who founded the Music Chapel with Queen Elisabeth, will be honoured along with Vivaldi and Mozart in masterpieces for two cellos, two pianos, two violins, and finally piano and voice, where the masters in residence will join their superb young students to illustrate once again the famous principle of “
compag-nonnage” so unique to the Music Chapel. We will thus have the pleasure of seeing Lidy Blijdorp accompanied by Julie Sevilla-Fraysse, Maria Joao Pires seconded by Julien Libeer; also, the very brilliant Liya Petrova and Hrachya Avanesyan, and finally Julien Brocal and Alexandra Orlowska. Two young virtuosi, cellist Deborah Pae and violinist Esther Yoo, will round out the programme in works by Tchaikovsky and Waxman. All this will be accompanied by a loyal partner of the Music Chapel, the Orchestre Royal de Chambre de Wallonie conducted by Augustin Dumay, one of the three masters in residence for this exceptional evening!Press Release Gala
