27 to 30/11/2013 –  Flagey

Four days of celebration with the the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel!

After Chopin in 2010, Brahms in 2011, and turn-of-the-century French composers in 2012, the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel and Flagey are once again joining forces for their Music Chapel Festival, which has become one of the highlights of both partners’ programming. The 2013 edition will focus on the Romantics: Felix Mendelssohn, Robert Schumann and Franz Schubert. Young soloists of the Music Chapel and some of their teachers – Augustin Dumay, Gary Hoffman, Tatiana Samouil and Sylvia Thereza Silveira – will be accompanied by the Orchestre Royal de Chambre de Wallonie, the Brussels Philharmonic conducted by Hervé Niquet, and the Vlaams Radio Choir, in a repertoire ranging from chamber music to symphonic works, giving us an overview of the most beautiful music of the Romantic era: Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto in E minor, Schumann’s Piano Concerto, Schubert’s Trout quintet and Mendelssohn’s Octet, only to mention a few.  We are particularly pleased with the exceptional participation of famous musicians and long-standing partners of the Music Chapel who are not often heard on these shores: Frank Braley, Eric Le Sage, Gérard Caussé, Vineta Sareika and Helmut Deutsch, who will give a public master class for singers of the European Network of Opera Academies [ENOA]. To sum it up, this festival is likely to be a one-off celebration of the greatest Romantic composers. The place to be !
