Leon Blekh, violin
Born in Antwerp in 99, Leon Blekh studied with Alissa Margulis at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp and his father, former student of David Oistrakh and Dorothy DeLay.
He won numerous prizes:
- 2013 – IORDENS VIOLIN COMPETITION (1ST PRIZE)
- 2013 – PRINSES CHRISTINA CONCOURS (2ND PRIZE)
- 2014 – BRUEGHEL CONCOURS BRUSSELS (1ST PRIZE)
- 2014 – SOLOIST-COMPETITION ANTWERP (1ST PRIZE)
- 2014 – BELFIUS NATIONAL BELGIUM COMPETITION (1ST PRIZE)
He performed in many places such as Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Anton Philipzaal in The Hague, La Monnaie in Brussels, Frits Philips Muziekgebouw in Eindhoven, Rustaveli Theatre in Tbilisi (with the Tbilisi State Opera Symphony Orchestra), Cologne Philharmony…
He participated in many festivals such as Amsterdams Grachtenfestival, Delft Chamber Music Festival, Puigcerda Festival, Chamber Music Festival of Antwerp, Arte Amanti Festival…
He is admitted in summer 2019, to the Verbier Festival Orchestra and the Menuhin Festival in Gstaad (Gstaad Academy). He attended many masterclasses of famous musicians such as Shlomo Mintz, Sungsic Yang, Hagai Shaham, Felix Ayo, Barnabas Kelemen, Pavel Vernikov, Andrey Baranov and Gidon Kremer.
Leon is artist in residence at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel since 2019, under the guidance of Augustin Dumay.
