Julie Gebhart, soprano

As a member of the International Opera Academy in Ghent from 2015 to 2017, Julie made her debut as Eleonora (Prima la musica e poi le parole by Salieri) and Euridice (Orpheus by Telemann) in prestigious venues such as Bozar in Brussels, hetpaleis in Antwerp and Le Minard in Ghent. During the 2016–2017 season, she participated in Guy Joosten’s production of Zwanemans as Zwaantje at hetpaleis in Antwerp and at the Flanders Opera in Ghent.

Julie has performed with orchestra at Flagey and Bozar, at the UNESCO Auditorium (Paris), the Salle Cortot (Paris), the Catamarca Amphitheatre (Argentina), the Appeldoorn Amphitheatre (Netherlands) or the Hofburg (Vienna).

Following her nomination by Musiq’3 as Belgium’s representative at the “Jeunes solistes des médias publics francophones” competition, Julie won the Audience Award. She won second prize at the Flame competition in Paris and first prize at the Cobelli Lied Competition in Italy with her pianist partner, Pablo Matías Becerra.

In October 2018, she sang the role of Cinderella in Pauline Viardot’s opera at the Opéra Royal de Wallonie. In October 2019 Julie will return to the stage of the Opéra Royal de Wallonie to perform the role of Love in Gluck’s opera “Orphée et Euridice” (Berlioz version).

Since October 2017, Julie has been artist in residence at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel under the direction of José van Dam and Sophie Koch.
