Lisa Willems, soprano

Lisa Willems is a Belgian soprano.

She holds a master’s degree from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, and the Koninklijk Conservatorium Antwerpen.

She is a laureate of the MM-Academy of La Monnaie De Munt in Brussels, where future engagements include Flowermaiden (Parsifal/Wagner), Eine Modistin (Der Rosenkavalier/Strauss), and a solo recital with songs by Libby Larsen.

Past engagements at La Monnaie include: Maiblumen Blüthen überall (Zemlinsky), Songs of the Clown (Korngold), Edelknabe (Lohengrin/Wagner). She covered the part of Mère Marie (Dialogues des Carmélites/Poulenc). Lisa has appeared as Donna Anna/Zerlina in Don Juan (Don Giovanni/Mozart) by Deschonecompanie and Leonore in Fidelio (Beethoven) by WALPURGIS, live and in animation (Operavision). She plays the mother in Frankenstein by Les Karyatides and the role of Kalypso in Odysseus’ Women + Anaïs Nin at the Louis Andriessen Festival in Muziekgebouw aan’t IJ (2016 and 2019) and Operadagen Rotterdam 2019. At the Dorset Opera Festival (England), Lisa has appeared as Sacerdotessa (Aïda/Verdi), Alice (Le Comte Ory/Rossini), Una Novizia (Suor Angelica/Puccini) and as an Emerging Artist in concert. Lisa was a finalist of the Salomon-Lindberg Das Lied competition in 2019.

Since September 2021, she is an artist in residence under the guidance of José van Dam and Sophie Koch at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel in Waterloo.
