Souffrance, révolte, tristesse, tourmente, mélancolie. Le tempétueux quatuor en fa
mineur de Mendelssohn, composé peu après la mort de Fanny, sa soeur adorée, est
un déferlement d’émotions intenses. Sommet de sa production chambriste, cette
pièce sublime laisse entrevoir la direction que les oeuvres suivantes auraient pu prendre
si Mendelssohn n’avait pas rendu son dernier souffle quelques mois après l’avoir
achevée.
