Kaspar Zehnder, conductor

Kaspar Zehnder studied flute and conducting in Bern, Basel, Paris and Siena. He has been the conductor of the Biel Solothurn Symphony Orchestra since 2014. Since 2018 he has held the same position at the Hradec Králové Philharmonic Orchestra in the Czech Republic. He has been the artistic director of both the Murten Classics summer festival since 1999 and the Klangantrisch Festival since its foundation in 2015. From 2005 to 2008 he was the conductor of the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra and from 2004 to 2012 the musical director of Zentrum Paul Klee in Bern.

Kaspar Zehnder maintains particularly close relations with the English Chamber Orchestra, the Slovak Philharmonic, Sinfonia Varsovia, the Odense Symphony Orchestra and numerous orchestras and opera houses in France, Germany and Spain, Poland, the Czech Republic and Romania.

In addition to his conducting duties, Kaspar Zehnder continues to perform as a flutist. In early 2016, he went on a European chamber music tour with Magdalena Kožená, Sir Simon Rattle and members of the Berliner Philharmoniker. The project was recorded on CD in 2017 and toured again in 2019.
