Suffering, revolt, sadness, torment, melancholy. The tempestuous Quartet in F
composed shortly after the death of Fanny, his beloved sister, is an outpouring of intense emotions. The summit of his chamber music production, this sublime piece hints at the direction that the following works could have taken had Mendelssohn not taken his last breath his last breath a few months after its completion.
