Pianist Frank Braley and violinist Vladyslava Luchenko, associated artist of the Music Chapel, will perform with the Orchestre Symphonique de Bienne Soleure conducted by Kaspar Zender. This concert will focus on Mozart and Beethoven’s concertos, after two recording sessions in Bienne in March 2019 and 2020, in anticipation of the release in December of a ‘Mozart Doubles’ box set released jointly by Outhere, Orchestre Symphonique de Bienne Soleure and Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel. The performers will share the stage with the young artists in residence Shuichi Okada and Leon Blekh.

Mozart’s Concerto for Violin and Piano in D major was to premiere in Mannheim with violinist Ignaz Fränzl (1736-1811), but by November 1778, when Mozart arrived in Mannheim for the second time, the orchestra that had made the Palatinate capital’s heyday was on the verge of extinction. Mozart therefore shelved his project and concentrated on other tasks. It wasn’t until 1985 and Philip Wilby’s study that this score finally saw the light of day.

Recorded on November 28 & 29, 2020
