Pianist Frank Braley and violinist Vladyslava Luchenko, associated artist of the Music Chapel, will perform with the Orchestre Symphonique de Bienne Soleure conducted by Kaspar Zender. This concert will focus on Mozart and Beethoven’s concertos, after two recording sessions in Bienne in March 2019 and 2020, in anticipation of the release in December of a ‘Mozart Doubles’ box set released jointly by Outhere, Orchestre Symphonique de Bienne Soleure and Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel. The performers will share the stage with the young artists in residence Shuichi Okada and Leon Blekh.

To make inanimate statues – or ignorant souls – sensitive to all the passions of human existence through the power of harmony: this is what Prometheus and the young Beethoven were probably seeking to do. Whether through stage music or concertante works like his first Concerto for piano, the future ‘Prometheus of music’ would have no other goal than to offer men the ‘sacred fire’ stolen from celestial realities. Delusions of grandeur already inspired Mozart in his Concertone, which propels two solo violins, frequently joined by the cello and oboe, to the forefront of the stage.
