Mozart Double Concerti K. 365, K. 505 & K. ANH. 56/315F
Over the course of the past decade, the Biel Solothurn Symphony Orchestra and the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel have promoted, in Switzerland and Belgium, musical knowledge transmission of the highest order through several artistic projects involving the orchestra, its conductor Kaspar Zehnder, the masters in residence at the Music Chapel and some of the Music Chapel’s young talents. This partnership gave rise to the ambitious idea to program Mozart’s double concertos, with the particularity of bringing together established artists – such as Frank Braley and Louis Lortie – with emerging talents – such as Victoria Vassilenko, Iris van Wijnen and Vladyslava Luchenko. |
Mozart’s complete double concertos were performed in concert on 20 March 2019 and 11 March 2020 at the Palais des Congrès of Biel. The concerto for two pianos (K. 365), the concerto for piano and violin (K. Anh. 56/315f) and the ’aria Ch’io mi di scordi di te? (K. 505) were recorded during these two concerts and today constitute the recorded trace of this ambitious project. |
