David Ramael is at the forefront of a new generation of entrepreneurial conductors, who try to give renewed relevance to classical music in today’s fragmented and internationalized society. With BOHO Players, David Ramael seeks to rethink the format of classical music concerts, inviting the listener to participate in a meaningful dialogue with the musicians – before, during and after the performance – on a wide range of social, demographic, cultural and ecological issues.David Ramael started studying music at the age of seven. He entered the Brussels Conservatory in the trumpet studio of Manu Mellaerts, but quickly forged a diverse path by combining conservatory studies in trumpet, harmony, counterpoint and conducting with musicology studies at the Free Brussels University. He completed an ERASMUS exchange program at the Vienna University, after which he left for the United States. He continued his  studies, both in musicology and conducting, and in 2003 graduated with a Doctorate in Musical Arts in conducting from the University of Minnesota.His initial career path was equally diverse, holding the music directorship with a variety of chamber orchestras and wind ensembles.From 2011 until 2013 David Ramael served as Artistic Director of Gemini Youth Orchestras.
