Diana Gouglina, soprano
Diana Gouglina was born in 1990 in Bulgaria. Having grown up in Cairo in a family of musicians, she started music with the violin at the age of 5, then the piano, and then, at the age of 11, she discovered singing in the “A Capella” choir of the Cairo Opera. Having earned her baccalaureate at the age of 13, she started her studies at Neuchâtel, site of the Geneva School of music where, at the age of 21, she earned a double master’s degree in education and performance in the class of Marcin Habela. She appears regularly at the Monnaie Opera House singing Opera arias, at the Flagey “Festival à la Française” with melodies by Bizet and Hahn, and at the Brussels Centre for Fine Arts (Bozar) with the National Orchestra of Belgium in Schubert’s Mass No. 1 under the baton of C. Warren-Green. Since September 2011, she has been admitted at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel under the direction of José van Dam. She received a scholarship from an anonymous donor for the 2013-2014 academic year.
